Sandy Hates Books

Sandy’s aftermath at PowerHouse Arena

Remember when Sandy came over uninvited and poured water all over your books? So does PowerHouse Arena, which is hosting a hurricane relief fundraiser to make up for the fourteen feet of water that soaked tens of thousands in inventory. Now, why would Sandy do such a thing? Because SandyHatesBooks.

Come show your love this Saturday, November 17th, from noon to night at PowerHouse with a crisp ten dollar bill [suggested donation] to see some writers you may have heard of once or twice: Jennifer Egan, Jonathan Franzen, Paul Auster, Joseph O’Neill, Rick Moody, Fiona Robinson, John Bemelmans Marciano, Saïd Sayrafiezadeh, Téa Obreht, Teju Cole, Ayad Akhtar, Cecily von Ziegesar, and Sarah Vowell.

We’ll be there, as will The Village Voice, Armchair/Shotgun, Tin House, and plenty of literary folk.

The schedule goes something like this:

12:00pm: Kids Reading: Fiona Robinson & John Bemelmans Marciano
Artists Adrian Tomine & Leanne Shapton at the signing table.
